MLL: Bayhawks Battle Rattlers in Florida

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Tonight at 7:30 p.m. the defending Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Champions Chesapeake Bayhawks begin their title defense against the Rochester Rattlers in a battle tested season opener.

The Bayhawks have brought back their two leading point men in Kyle Dixon and Brook Stevens. Dixon finished the season for the Bayhawks with 48 total points and Stevens finished with 36 (23 goals).

The Bayhawks also bright back a very crucial attackman who went under the radar last season, Ben Rubeor. Rubeor led the defending MLL champions in points last post season and helped carry the Bayhawks to the promise land.

Ben Hunt, who had two crucial 2-point goals in the playoffs last season, is also coming back as well as two assists. With the play of Dixon and Stevens and the added talents of Rubeor and Hunt, the Bayhawks look to have another great chance to bring back another championship to Annapolis.

Although his stats are not the greatest, goaltender Kip Turner is also returning. Turner had a 10 goals against average last season which is about average, but what goes unheard and unseen is Turner’s leadership. With bringing Turner back, the Bayhawks are set with leadership and talent and are ready to defend their title.
