NCAA: America East 2014 Was Led by Albany

It was undoubtedly a great season for the NCAA, especially the America East Conference.  All of the teams showed off their strengths, and had some amazing games this season. Honorable mentions go to Binghamton, UMBC, Stonybrook, and Albany, who together completed the top four in the America East Conference.

Binghamton deservingly secured their second consecutive America East Championship Title this season.  For UMBC, Matt Gregoire tied his scoring record this season for second in the nation at 48, helping the Retrievers land a solid spot in the rankings. Stonybrook played with a high intensity all season, but their fight and drive was unmatched against Albany in the America East Championship tournament match.  They suffered a devastating 17-16 loss in OT, but they definitely put up a fight and their whole team played to the best of their abilities.

Albany definitely gets the title of standout season, especially in the America East.  The team brought a great deal of publicity and notoriety to the conference, and they gained an immense level of popularity due to the Thompson Family.

The Trio of Thompsons outscored most opponents that UAlbany faced this season, putting the Danes on top of the conference, and shedding a new light on to a younger generation of NCAA lacrosse.  The Thompson Trio of Miles, Lyle, and Ty were on top of their game this season, leading their team to victory game after game.  They have been referred to as the Michael Jordans of Lacrosse, and they were as savvy as it gets when it came to duping their opponent, because they communicated across the field in their native tongue.  Brothers Miles and Lyle were awarded a joined honor of the Tewaarton Award this season for their outstanding performances on the field.

Overall, the America East had a well-rounded and intense season.  All of the teams brought something special to the table this season and contributed to the growth and popularity of lacrosse.
