It’s a rather quiet week in the world of NCAA women’s lacrosse. Most teams are waiting to play the next round of their respective tournaments, and most start on Thursday, May 9th.
Boston College vs Boston University
It’s a battle in Boston as these two teams get ready to face off. Boston U fell to Loyola Last Saturday in the Patriot League championship. This was the first season that the Terriers competed in the Patriot League, and they typically had a better showing in the America East Conference, winning nine titles.
They are ready to face Boston College for a non-conference game on May 3rd. Boston College also fell to UNC during their quarterfinal match last week. The non-conference game will prove interesting, as these two teams don’t typically get a chance to compete.
The Terriers have been led by their strong midfield all year, and its going to be great to see them up against the Eagles, who have had a strong performance all year. The match is set for 7pm on Saturday at Nickerson Field.
Ohio State vs Michigan
The Buckeyes and Wolverines are headed to Evanston, IL, to battle in the ALC Tournament. Ohio State Junior Tori Descenza was named defensive player of the week for her consistently outstanding performance in goal.
As for Michigan, this is the team’s first season as a Varsity sport at the University. During their last matchup at the very beginning of the season, The Bucks trumped the Wolverines 18-3, but Michigan has been improving drastically over the season.
Descenza will certainly be an obstacle for Michigan’s offense, but the Wolverine’s improvement may just give them an edge against the Buckeyes. The match will take place at 7pm.
