Wings Look to Sweep Season Series Against Stealth

Tonight the Philadelphia Wings (5-11) will face off against the Vancouver Stealth (4-11).  Last meeting the Wings defeated the Stealth 15-9.  Tonights matchup will be in Langley, BC at 10pm.

The Wings were eliminated from the playoff race when they fell last week 10-9 to Toronto.  The Stealth who are still in contention must win there three remaining games. (Wings, Roughnecks, Rush) and hope Colorado loses out.  All this may be null and void as they may be eliminated before this game starts as the Colorado Mammoth face the Swarm, a Mammoth victory gives them the final spot.

The Wings are led by Kevin Crowley with 30 goals, Kyle Buchanan 45 assists, and Jordan Hall 66 points.  Despite their record, Evan Kirk has played well between the pipes with an 11.60 GAA.  Wings will obviously hoping to play spoiler depending the outcome of the Mammoth game.  But most importantly they will be wanting to win their final two games to end the season on a high note.  This could also be a chance for players to give one last effort in the hopes of being invited to next years camp, and also these final two games could be used to raise a players stock as they could be used in a trade.  Wings will be facing former Wing Matt Roik as he will be the goaltender for the Stealth.  Wings again must play a full 60 minutes and limit any power play opportunities for the Stealth.

The Stealth are led by Rhys Duch (34G/37A).  The Stealth do have a potent offense once the get clicking on all cylinders, but this season has been nothing but a misfire.  After starting the season at 2-1 the Stealth have gone 2-10 in the last dozen games which includes a five and three game losing streak.  There will obviously be some changes in the roster to build the offense and defense.

One has to wonder to get some key players will the Stealth look to move Rhys Duch?  Probably not, but Duch is hungry for more titles.

Next weekend is the end of the regular season.  Vancouver has back to back games in Edmonton Friday night and end the season at home next Saturday against Calgary.

The Wings will end their season at home versus the Colorado Mammoth.  Wings now they let the fans down and will look to send them home with a good memory in getting a win over Colorado.
