We are entering the most exciting part of the lacrosse season as we have a number of important events approaching. Zone Championships are taking place throughout this week across Ontario, which makes for some intense league games throughout the week. These are set up as one game playoffs between the top 2 teams in each division in each zone. I have the opportunity to work two Intermediate games tonight in Lindsay, which will see Uxbridge against Oshawa in the first game followed by Clarington and Peterborough in the second game. This should be a very entertaining night of lacrosse as all of these teams were close with each other throughout the season.
The second ‘A’ Qualifier weekend is this coming weekend in Whitby, which will see the top 16 teams in Peewee, Bantam, and Midget play off against each other. Only the top 6 in each division will go on to the Final 6 weekend, which means for many teams this could depend on their level of play this weekend. These games will be very intense, which calls for great refereeing. A select crew from across Ontario is selected to work the Qualifiers this weekend, and I am fortunate enough to be a member of that crew. I am looking forward to this exciting and entertaining weekend of high level lacrosse.
This will be a very exciting and busy week of lacrosse for myself and for many teams across Ontario. There are a number of teams looking to win a Zone Championship banner as well as many teams still trying to lock up a spot in the Final 6.
