The Denver Outlaws have made a very surprising trade, sending Mark Matthews to the New York Lizards for Will Mangan and the 29th overall pick.
Matthews was a rookie last season with Denver and starred, while he was also the first overall pick to the Edmonton Rush in the National Lacrosse League this fall.
Matthews will be joining an attack unit that also has Tommy Palasek, Matt Gibson and, eventually, Rob Pannell who was their first overall pick last season.
Gibson was rookie of the year in 2012 so adding Matthews to him and the rest of the unit gives New York one of the best young cores in the league.
Last season Matthews had 28 points in nine games played including 19 goals. He picked up eight points in the two Denver playoff games as well, with four of them in the championship against Chesapeake.
