DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth has appointed Brad Self as general manager of the lacrosse organization. The former assistant general manager and National Lacrosse League veteran will continue to focus on player personnel and development decisions for the club and serve alongside Mammoth Governor Matt Hutchings and Mammoth Head Coach Pat Coyle.

“I’m extremely excited and honored to accept this new role within our organization and look forward to preparing for another competitive season,” Colorado Mammoth General Manager Brad Self shared. “I’d like to thank the Kroenke family, Matt Hutchings, Pat Coyle and everyone at Kroenke Sports & Entertainment for this opportunity and for the endless support I’ve received as both an athlete and member of the front office.”

Self, 39, brings 13 years of experience as an NLL athlete to the Mammoth front office. The Peterborough, Ontario native also spent two seasons with the Mammoth front office. Self joined the organization as the team’s youth lacrosse development manager in 2018, where he partnered with youth lacrosse programs and instructed more than 4,000 young athletes at camps, clinics and grassroots initiatives throughout Colorado. Prior to the 2019-20 season, Self was appointed as the team’s assistant general manager, where he assembled a formidable draft class and helped reposition personnel and club assets while improving the on-field results in his first season.

“We’re very glad Brad has chosen to call Denver his home and recognize his efforts in both growing the game and improving our organization on the turf, in our offices and in our community,” Colorado Mammoth Governor and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Matt Hutchings shared. “Brad displays his professionalism and leadership in each of those environments and I look forward to continue working alongside him.”

Originally selected by the Buffalo Bandits in the second round (18th overall) of the 2001 NLL Entry Draft, the former transition player spent four seasons (2004-05, 2017-19) playing with the Mammoth, initially joining the team as a free agent in 2004, then returning in 2017 after being acquired in a trade. Before his return to Denver, Self spent five seasons (2012-16) with the Rochester Knighthawks, where he became a three-time NLL Champion (2012-14), the 2016 NLL Transition Player of the Year and a member of the 2016 All-Pro First Team.

On the world stage, Self represented Canada and secured a gold medal at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in 2015. The Mammoth executive also played on the Peterborough Lakers Senior A lacrosse team in the MSL for parts of 13 seasons (2003-07, 2009, 2011-17), winning the Gene Dopp Memorial Trophy as Top Rookie in 2002 and hoisting Mann Cups with the Lakers in 2004, 2012 and 2017.
