Last night history was made at MLL All Star weekend as Charlotte Hounds rookie Mike Sawyer broke the record for the hardest shot in MLL history.Paul Rabil owned the hardest shot ever at 111 miles per hour from three years ago. Ohio Machine defender Kyle Hartzell was the two time defending champion and has also hit 111, and he returned to the challenge in 2013.
No one thought the first shot of the contest would shatter the record.
Sawyer, who was the first contestant, hit 113 to open it up. He hit 114 on the next one, and after that no one came close. The next closest was fellow rookie John Ranagan from the Rochester Rattlers.
Sawyer, a local Charlotte kid who went to Charlotte Catholic High School, and was a member of the losing Team Eclipse in the all star game. We have video, curtsey of the MLL Vine feed, below.
