Toronto Might Sport New Look Defense

Defense has always been something the Toronto Rock pride themselves in. It’s part of the reason they dominated the early 200os, and why they won it all in 2011.

This season, they are bringing in what is a bit of a new look defense. First off, they lost Bruce Codd to a coaching gig with the Calgary Roughnecks. Second, they signed former Buffalo Bandits captain Chris White to be a defensive cog.

Obviously bringing in White makes their defense all the better. They re-signed Mike Hobbins and Rob Marshall to one year deals to keep them around, and we could see Damon Edwards as more of an impact player in 2013 after he signed with Toronto midway through last season.

The Rock do not have anymore defensive free agents. Their only unrestricted free agents were Josh Sanderson and Colin Doyle, who both re-signed. Edwards was a restricted free agent but he signed a one year deal to stay in Toronto.

Toronto has other aging defenders such as Phil Sanderson, Bill Greer and Sandy Chapman. How is this defense going to look on opening day for the Rock?
