Welcome to the Saskatchewan Rush

Dear Saskatchewan Rush,

Welcome Home!

You have come to a province that has been craving a second professional sports franchise for years and a province that will welcome you with open arms.

You should know this province is a football-mad province and that you may struggle initially with competing with our beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders, but this province will certainly come to love, value, appreciate and want you just as badly. In the 80s and 90s, we held fundraising events to save the Riders from bankruptcy and moving; now we are the wealthiest CFL team in the league. Selling out every game and despite the fact the team is currently in last place (0-5), we still have fans rabid and passionate for the team.

This province and its Aboriginal population will be greatly impacted by your presence. You will have a chance to form a great new generation of lacrosse players in this province, one in which lacrosse does not have the same clout as hockey, football, baseball and soccer; yet your very existence here will cause the lacrosse registrations and involvement in Saskatchewan to grow and expand allowing lacrosse to flourish like never before in this province. The history of lacrosse and its roots in Aboriginal history and culture will allow many young people to find a sport that will impact their lives in a positive way as many who currently play would say it has for them.

This is going to be a tough challenge and something that will not be easy, but the dividends will pay off in a big way and a sport that has been wallowing in obscurity will finally be brought to the forefront of the province’s mind. This province has been longing for another team to call our own, and we finally have this. Are you ready for the province of Saskatchewan to Feel the Rush?

Welcome Home!
