Coach Stagnitta only held his position as the Head Coach of the Denver Outlaws for two years, but what a two years it was. The 2013 Outlaws were the first team in MLL history to post an undefeated regular season only to lose in the semi-final game of playoffs. Coach Stagnitta was named Coach of the Year this year due to his contribution to that undefeated season. In Stagnitta’s first year as the head coach for the Outlaws they held a record of 11-3 where they were again first in the league. Both years Stagnitta was at the helm the Denver club held the title of first in the league only to lose in the championship game, and semi-final game, respectively. With Stagnitta stepping down along with Mundorf being traded, a lot of people are starting to question what the 2014 season will be like for the Outlaws. If history has anything to do with the way the 2014 season should unfold the Outlaw fans can expect much of the same.
What I expect from Stagnittas departure is another strong team that can make the playoffs and be set up to win the cup. The only question I have left is if new Coach B.J O’ Hara will have the intensity and power to push this talented Denver roster to the next level and win their first championship in organizational history. In the times O’ Hara has been head coach of a team between MLL and NCAA he has held a record of 158 wins, and 148 losses. While those may not be impressive stats O’Hara has reached 9 NCAA Championships, coached 106 All Americans and MLL All Stars, and has been there to help the Outlaws break 21 team records, along with 10 MLL records.
While the times of Stagnitta may be over I believe the Outlaws can put together another talent loaded team that can make yet another run for the Championship, the only question we have left is, does O’Hara have enough left in the tank to push them to the next level?
