Wings and Bayhawks Fans Get Some Closure

Last night the Chesepeake Bayhawks and the Charlotte Hounds closed out the season just like they did last year.  Only this time it wasnt for the champioship.  This was the final game of the regular season for both teams , and the loser wuld receive the first overall pick in the MLL draft.

Well the Bayhawks didnt disappoint the over 6,000 plus in attendance y controlling the game from start to finish and scoring a 19-13 victory to finish 5-9, while the Hounds finish 4-10.  But this was more then just a final regular season game, or a game  for the number one pick.  This was a game for some Wings fans to say Thank You and Good Luck.

Kevin Crowley, CJ Costabile, Brendan Mundorf, Jeff Reynolds, Brian Megill are all member of the Philadelphia Wings, which last month it was announced that the team is relocating.  Destination, Conneticut  Mohegan Sun Casino.  These five players noticed a handful of WIngs fans in attendance, some wearing their jerseys, hats, t-shirts.

When the game was over, the players made sure they went and seen their fans from Philadelphia.  Fans had their chance to say Thank You and Good Luck.  PLayers know its a business, and also recounted some fond memories.  Kevn Crowley was asked during an on-line chat,  What is your favorite ice-cream? Answer: Moose Tracks, but I haven’t been able to find any locally, said Crowley.  Well next game as he hit the locker room, there was a big tub of Moose Track ice cream.  Crowley told me last night, he wasnt able to get any until half time, some of it meted, but it was good.

Crowley ws also told by fans, that he will get jeered and cheered, and he knew when hearing the boo’s he needed to step up.  Kevin said “Philly was becoming my home, I just started putting roots down.  I”I will alays remember the fans, they are the best”

CJ Costabile echoed the same feelings, “When I first came to rookie camp the veterans made me feel welcome, and helped me in my game”  I truly appreciated that.”

“The fans in Philly know the game, they have no problem telling you if you played bad”, said Costabile.  “I will miss them, but Im sure we will see them in 2015”.

The fans from Philly left with some closure. They had a chance to speak with the guys they see in the winter, wish them luck.

Personally, it was very little closure.  This is an organization I grew up with for 28 years.  Attending training camps, all home games, road trips, even title games and drinking from the Championship Cups.  I was able to wish CJ Costabile and Kevin Crowley (favorite player) all the best.

They along with the other members of the organization were always willing to give a few minutes of their time to this amatuer reporter for interviews after each game, no matter the outcome, and for that I am truley greatful.

So Thank You guys, We wish you the best and hope to see you soon.
