Winners and Losers of the NLL Draft

Winners

Minnesota Swarm- Hard not to have a good draft with four first rounders and three of them being in the top four. Minnesota got a stud defender in Brock Sorensen plus two elite scorers in Kiel Matisz and Shayne Jackson. They also got Matt Gibson, the MLL rookie of the year and he has experience in the WLA as well. Sam Bradman was a risky pick but he could be a great sleeper. Minnesota will remain a very young team and with their talent, they should be one of the top teams in the league.

Buffalo Bandits- Getting Dhane Smith in the first round was a great pick as it was, as he is one of the best offensive players in the draft. Next they got defender Hayden Smith, another really good one. Wenster Green at just 18 was the youngest player taken and he has tons of talent. Joel Matthews looked like a really good pick for them as well. They also got Carter Bender very late.

Washington Stealth- Mitchell Jones was a good pick for them later, while they got two awesome defenders in Tyler Garrison and Billy Howstawser. Kyle Buchanan also seemed like a late steal.

Losers

Philadelphia Wings- The Wings did not have a bad draft. It’s more of the fact that they didn’t have a pick until the fourth round, and they took a risk with two American field players in Mike Manley and CJ Costabile. Both could be very good, but tney are risks.

Rochester Knighthawks– Rochester struggled if nothing else because of their lack of picks. They got a good player in Robbie Campbell and a good defender in Cody Hawkins but they could have used a backup goalie more than anything.
