Mike Stone Blog: Champions and an MVP

March 27, 2013

Reflecting on this year’s NALL season I have to say it was an overall league success. I entered the season without much expectation for the league, as I knew it had a rocky start the year before and I wasn’t sure it would even take place up until a few weeks before the season started. From our first practices with the Rockhoppers I was impressed with our team’s dedication to…

Jesse Guerin: “I’d love to be back in Kentucky”

March 22, 2013

When the Kentucky Stickhorses signed Jesse Guerin mid season, everyone knew their offense would improve. It did and Guerin was one of their best scorers, especially when Mike McClellan went to the NLL. “Overall it was a good time in Kentucky, had some great teammates and enjoyed meeting everyone involved.” Guerin told us. Kentucky fell hard in the championship game when they were defeated by Boston 25-13, obviously a tough…

March 21, 2013

Kyle Barnett isn’t the flashiest name on the Boston Rockhoppers roster, but the defender had an overall solid season as he helped Boston win the first ever North American Lacrosse League Championship. “It feels good to be a champion” said Barnett. “It’s great to be able to compete in a competitive league and strive for a goal as a team.” Boston and the Kentucky Stickhorses have become rivals of sort,…

March 19, 2013

I’d like to begin this blog by thanking In Lacrosse We Trust for the opportunity to write a little piece about lacrosse and the NALL every week. It has been a great season for the Rockhoppers and certainly an overall successful one for the league as well. If you look at what was positive from the second season of the North American Lacrosse League, I think the future looks promising…

Rockhoppers Win First Ever NALL Championship

March 17, 2013

Led by MVP Mike Stone, the Boston Rockhoppers defeated the Kentucky Stickhorses 26-13 to win the first ever North American Lacrosse League championship. Kentucky was able to hang in with Boston most of the first half until things blew up in the second quarter. Goaltender Patrick Crosby was pulled and Spencer Lyons was put into the game, and the flood gates opened as he allowed 16 goals over two and…

NALL: Stickhorses and Rockhoppers Battle for First League Title

March 16, 2013

Today the Kentucky Stickhorses will host the Boston Rockhoppers as they battle for the first ever North American Lacrosse League championship. Kentucky (2-5) is 0-3 this season against Boston (6-1). Boston will be without two of their best players in Ryan Hotaling and Tommy Palasek. Hotaling signed with the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth yesterday before the NLL’s roster freeze after the trade deadline. Meanwhile, their goaltender Vince Talbot is coming off…

Could Bombers Contribute to NLL in 2013?

With the trade deadline only hours away, and the deadline for teams to sign free agents for playoffs is Friday March 15 at 5pm, I turned to the roster of the Baltimore Bombers of the NALL.  Four names stuck out. Matt Alrich(D)  Dan Marohl(F), Shaun Nadelen(D) &  John Orson(D) Have to wonder if Head Coach Johnny Mouradian or any of the other GM’s will be dialing the house of Shaun…

Rockhoppers Squeeze By Kingfish 15-14

March 10, 2013

The Boston Rockhoppers were playing in their last game before their championship tilt in Kentucky, and it was surprisingly tight victory for them as they defeated the Rhode Island Kingfish 15-14. Boston was led by goaltender Chris Hettler, replacing an injured Vincent Talbot who was hurt during warmups. Mike Stone also scored four goals while Ryan Hotaling and Tommy Palasek each had hat tricks. They got two goal efforts from…
