MSL: Redmen and Lakers Should be Classic

The Brooklin Redmen won an exciting 7-6 OT victory over the Peterborough Lakers on Wednesday night to force a seventh and deciding game to advance to the MSL league finals.

Brooklin surprised most critics after winning the first two games of the series, however, Peterborough won three straight games to take a 3-2 series lead into game six.  On Wednesday night, it was a back and forth affair which saw Peterborough outscore Brooklin 3-1 in the third period to force OT.  Brooklin’s Derek Hopcroft scored a soft outside shot just 34 seconds into OT to win the game.

Game seven takes place tonight at 8 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Look for both teams to limit their mistakes and stay out of the penalty box. Tonight’s game will see the battle of scoring leader’s Shawn Williams (5G, 19A) and Shawn Evans (11G, 13A) who will look to out duo each other and lead their team to victory.

The winner of tonight’s game will face the Six Nations Chiefs tomorrow night in the first game of the MSL league final.
