February 15, 2016

The Orange opened up their 100th season with a big bang, as they defeated in-state foe Siena 18-5 in front of 2,736 spectators who braved the extremely dangerous weather outside to watch some lacrosse inside the Carrier Dome. The highlight was Dylan Donahue’s nine points on the day, which included four goals and a career-high five assists in a new role as the team’s quarterback of the offense. The starting…

#5/7 Orange Open Up Their 100th Season Against Siena

February 12, 2016

Achieving 100 in nearly anything is worth celebrating. Whether a person turns 100-years-old, or someone gets 100 wins, or someone gets 100% on a test, the number is a very magical one. For Syracuse, they turn 100 years old since first fielding a team back in 1916, and they will celebrate it all year long. It started in the fall with the team getting these chrome helmets: And there will…

Simmons: Syracuse Done, So What Now?

May 19, 2015

Well the final four is set. We have Notre Dame vs. Denver and Johns Hopkins vs. Maryland. I have to say, I am very surprised that Maryland won, but I’m more surprised at how it won. I did not expect that the Carolina offense would struggle so badly; it was never really close at all. I expected the UNC attack to run all over Maryland and outscore the Terps significantly,…

Orange Crush: Cuse Defeats Marist, Faces Johns Hopkins In Annapolis

May 11, 2015

The game started out with shades of last year’s upset loss to Bryant, as the Red Foxes of Marist scored the game’s first goal to take an early lead. That would be their only lead of the night. Syracuse scored 10 unanswered there after to cruise to a 20-8 victory in a humid Carrier Dome. The Orange will play Johns Hopkins, a 19-7 victor over Virginia earlier in the day,…

Syracuse to Face Marist

May 7, 2015

With Marist winning their play-in game over Bryant to start the NCAA tournament, Syracuse now knows who to plan on hosting this Sunday.  Marist played well in their 10-6 victory to improve their overall record to 14-3, but they will need to play significantly better if they want to upset the Orange in the Dome.   The key to Marist’s victory was jumping out to a 5-2 lead in the…

In an interesting turn of events, two NCAA tournament teams will be facing off a week before the round of 16 begins.  Syracuse is coming off an ACC tournament championship while Colgate just won the Patriot League.  Those two wins lock up the first two automatic qualifiers available while the rest of the country plays this weekend to figure things out.  What this means is that you are going to…
